Turbulent Flow of Coolant in an Advanced Recycling Nuclear Reactor
In a thermal hydraulics simulation, we see the turbulent flow of coolant into a mock-up of an advanced recycling nuclear reactor. The colors indicate the speed of the fluid, with red representing regions of high velocity and blue representing regions of low velocity. The simulation used 23,000,000 grid points, and there are over 3,600 time slices, for a total of 85 billion data points per variable. Hot and cold air enters the box from two inlets at the bottom, mixes together in the chamber, and exits at the top.
