Initial project specification and start of development:
- Decision to implement prototypical nanostructure manipulation program based on tetrahedral and triangular structural units and a simple force field model:
- Structural units consist of a repelling field around their centroid and attracting fields around their vertices.
- Structural unit interactions are simulated by forward evaluation of the resulting differential equations.
- Stability is ensured by using a third-degree polynomial radially symmetric force field.
- Modelling program uses two-handed interaction in virtual reality environment to quickly assemble nanostructures atom by atom.
- Real-time simulation connects atoms on-the-fly and self-assembles larger structures.
